Toddler Towers

It's a sturdy step with a frame around it that lets your toddler stand safely at counter height. Because the sides give them something to hold and lean against, it's a lot steadier than a stool. Standing up at your level, they can wash fruit, pour and help with dinner, so they're part of the routine instead of watching from the floor.

Most kids start once they can stand and pull themselves up, usually somewhere around 12 to 18 months, and keep using it right through the preschool years. Since the platform adjusts to different heights, you're not buying for one season. It simply moves up as your child gets taller. Just stay close and supervise while they're up at the counter.

It puts your child right where the action is. Standing safely at the counter, they can wash their hands, rinse fruit or stir a bowl. Small tasks like these build coordination and focus without feeling like lessons. This is the core of the Montessori idea. Children learn by joining in real family life, not by copying it with toys.

Two things matter most: does it adjust, and how does it store. An adjustable platform means one tower fits your child for years, not just one season. Some models convert into a small table and chair for drawing between kitchen sessions. Think about where it lives when the cooking stops, and whether you want that table-and-chair option too.

If room is tight, a slim-based toddler tower is the one to look at. Ours take up little floor, so you can tuck it against the counter or slide it aside when nobody's using it. An adjustable model keeps fitting your child for years, and a convertible one doubles as a small table and chair. Either way, your child stays near the action without eating up the room.

Used the way they're meant to be, yes. The frame holds your child on all four sides, so there's something to grip and lean against at every turn. A wide, stable base keeps the tower from tipping as they reach and shift their weight. Set it on level ground, keep it clear of the stove and hot pans, and stay within arm's reach while they're up.

Budget stools and cheap copies can look like a saving, but many get outgrown fast or start to wobble. A good toddler tower holds its ground. It adjusts as your child grows and stays steady through years of climbing. Most get handed down to the next sibling too. Since it turns cooking into shared time, you'll reach for it far more than a one-off buy.
